Teaching My Son How To Read! Yes we learn ‘sight’ words the rote way but we prioritize decoding words. #phonics #homeschooling #sightwords #learntoread #fluency

✨Sight Word Drill✨ A word can become a sight word through repeated successful decoding. When my son encounters an unfamiliar word he will sound it out, but after encountering and decoding it correctly multiple times, the spelling, pronunciation, and meaning become bonded in memory. Eventually, they recognize the word automatically, without needing to sound it out each time. This is called orthographic mapping. #learntoread #homeschooling #sightwords #fluency #teachermom
